Red Squirrel Conservation Bodies:
 
Red Squirrel Survival Trust
The Red Squirrel Survival Trust is a national charity established to ensure the conservation and protection of the red squirrel in the UK. Its specific aims are to:
  • Protect red squirrels by keeping reds and greys apart.
  • Assist the winning reds in areas where red squirrel population numbers have stabilised or are increasing.
  • Establish new red colonies across the UK.
  • Fund research to develop a vaccine for the squirrel pox virus and to control fertility in greys.
  • Raise awareness of the plight of reds in the UK.
 
RSSP supports NRS and other Red Squirrel Conservation Groups in the UK. You can become a Friend of RSST or make a donation and as a result, help to Save Our Red Squirrels. More details can be found on their web site, www.rsst.org.uk.

Places to See Red Squirrels:
 
Squirrel's Pantry
If you ever in the Cockermouth area and like watching red squirrels whilst having a tasty lunchtime snack or afternoon tea, why not visit Squirrel's Pantry. The people at Squirrel's Pantry feed and look after the squirrels and are dedicated to maintaining their existence in the area. A group that is protecting red squirrels in a small woodland enclave on the outskirts of Dundee. They raise money through the sale of calendars that contain pictures of their red squirrels and other resident and migrating wildlife that inhabit the woodland
